Step vs Slope

Step vs Slope

Installing a fence yourself or having it installed by a contractor is a large project.  There are many decisions to make from layout and height, to color.  If your fence is going on a slope, one important idea to keep in mind is whether you want your fence sections to smoothly follow the slope or step down at intervals and what options the fence type you are purchasing offers.  Trex Composite Fence and wood fence types allow users to smoothly follow slopes.  Fortress Versai Ornamental Fence uses a unique point-weld hinge system on each of the pickets which allows to panel to rack or shift up to 45 degrees and follow slopes.  On the other hand, SimTek Composite faux rock fence uses pre-assembled solid square panels which must be stepped down slopes.  When deciding between step and slope consider why you are getting a fence: if you just need privacy then stepping your fence panels may be easier for installation.  However, if you are trying to keep animals or small children in your yard, following the slope would be a better option because stepping panels can leave a small opening at the corner of each section.
