Lattice Top Cedar Fence

The Lattice Top style is a semi-privacy fence with a more decorative section at the top of to create some openness. The lattice is hatched. The size of the lattice section usually looks best at 18" to 36" in height. The posts are beveled (and can be routed as well) and revealed on both sides. Framing is attached at the top and bottom of the window and at the bottom of the fence with fascia on the opposite side of the framing. Slight variations may be regulated by HOAs or cities to ensure visibility where required.

Materials needed per 8' section of fence

  • All cedar lumber
  • (1) Post: 4”x4”x10’ (with routed and beveled gothic top revealed above fence;) post is revealed on both sides
  • (3) Top, Mid, & Bottom Rails: 2”x4”x8’
  • (2) Top, Mid, & Bottom Fascia Rails: 1”x4”x8’
  • (1) Top Cap Rail: 2”x4”x8’
  • (18) Slats: 1”x6”x6’ (butted)
  • 1 Lattice Panel
